Each map is a beautiful artistic handcrafted work of art using the finest woods with special attention to every detail. Due to the natural variation in wood grain, each map will vary slightly in finish and color, some come to us all blonde and some has beautiful variances, making each one unique and one-of-a-kind. This is a beautifully detailed, laser engraved and precision cut topographical Map of the Outer Banks in North Carolina with interesting detail and stats engraved into it.

  • Kill Devil Hills & Kitty Hawk

    Known for the Wright brothers of Dayton, Ohio. First powered airplane flight in 1903.

  • Nags Head

    Known for huge sand dunes visible from miles at sea.
    The largest dune on the East Coast is named Jockey's Ridge.

  • Manteo

    Named after a civilized Croatan Indian. Manteo was christened
    and given the name of Lord of Roanoke and served as a
    liason between the English and the Croatan Indians.

  • Wanchese

    Indigenous people inhabited the area 1500 years ago, fishing and collecting oysters and shellfish.

  • Roanoke Island

    Is best known as the sight of the first attempted settlements of English Colonists in the new world, including the settlers of the "Lost Colony". Among these "lost" colonists was Virginia Dare, the first child born to English speaking parents in the New World. Named in 1584 by Captain Philip Amadas and Arthur Barlowe.

  • Pea Island

    Well known for the first all black man crew life-saving station. The keeper Richard Etheridge was considered the best surfman on the North Carolina coast in 1879.

  • Rodanthe

    Easternmost point of North Carolina.

  • Waves

    Known as Cape Kenrick on colonial era maps.

  • Salvo

    Named during the American Civil War by a passing Union officer. Formally given to the town in 1901.

  • Avon

    Historically known as Kinnakeet Village it was then renamed Avon in 1883.
    The Little Kinnakeet Life Saving Station was among the first seven stations
    constructed on the North Carolina treacherous Outer Banks in 1874.

  • Buxton

    Most famous for Cape Hatteras lighthouse protecting sailors from Cape Point
    where the Gulf Stream and Labrador currents intersect. Waters off the Cape
    Point Coast are known as Diamond Shoals and the Graveyard of the Atlantic.

  • Frisco

    Previously known as Trent, but received the name Frisco in 1898. Home to the only airfield on the island.

  • Hatteras

    Named by the Croatan Indians. Hatteras, an English rendition meaning "there is less vegetation".

  • Ocracoke

    Well known for the legends of Blackbeard, a pirate able to navigate the treacherous waters which provided him a hide out til his death in 1718.
