Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and Fishing Hoodie
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is an icon of the Outer Banks. Most anyone who has visited the OBX has taken a drive down Highway 12 to see the light, climb its 269 steps, and take in the panoramic views offered once at the top. The lighthouse standing 210 ft. tall, is the tallest in the nation. The lighthouse was first activated in December 1870 and has remained standing, lighting the way ever since. In an ironic twist of fate, the lighthouse's iconic candy cane stripes were in acutallity, an accident. After an engineer mixed up the plans, another lighthouse got the diamond print and the Cape Hatteras light was given the stripes. In a historic move in 1999, in a grand effort to save the lighthouse from being washed into the ocean, the entire structure, all 1,250,000 bricks, was moved almost 3000 ft. back over a course of 23 days. If you, or a loved one, has made the trek and conquered the steps, of this much beloved landmark, then this shirt is for you.
