Handmade Raffia Monkey's Fist
The Monkey's Fist, a traditional nautical knot, is used on ships as the weight on the end of a heaving line. Monkey's Fists are associated primarily with boating but have also been used in rock climbing. The monkey's fist has gained popularity in recent years as a decorative item found in coastal homes from coast to coast. They even make popular key chains and can be made buoyant by tying the fist around cork! Our monkey's fist is made from the leaves of the Raphia palm, commonly known as raffia. It measures six inches in diameter and is shown displayed on the Large Cobra Stand.
