Clear Glass Float Tied with Raffia
Glass floats have historically been used to keep large-scale commercial fishing nets afloat. In recent years they have become a staple in nautical decor and are a rare find for the lucky beachcomber to stumble upon one. Norway is believed to have been the first country to start production and use of glass fishing floats. Christopher Faye, a Norwegian merchant from Bergen, is credited for their invention in the early 1840s. Our glass float is secured with raffia which is made from the leaves of the Raphia palm. Glass float comes ready for hanging in a window or displaying on a bookshelf, coffee table, or night stand.
Glass float measures five inches in diameter and is shown displayed on the Medium Cobra Stand.
(Cobra Stand is NOT included.)
